Pre- market engagement in advance of a new contract for the provision of combined waste disposal services for Liverpool John Moores University sites

LJMU Estate Development and Campus Services Teams manage waste disposal and recycling services as part of the service portfolio offering. As a result of increasing waste segregation and simpler recycling initiatives, there are several high and low volume materials that vary in terms of tonnage and value. Segregation is also likely to create several niche or low-level volumes of materials. A list of waste produced is included in this RFI and it is expected that specific lots will be considered as part of the tender process. Pre-market engagement is necessary to understand: • relevant capacity and capability of service. • the extent of directly managed vs subcontracted waste management provision. • how waste is collected, weighed and segregated to maximise the potential for recycling; and re-use, and reduce waste to fuel (RDF) output. • Social and engagement benefits.
