NHS NW London ICB requires the provision of Men's Shed service for communities in the North Kensington area (NK) from 1st April 2023 to 30th June 2023. The overall aim is to provide people in NK with a globally recognised service to improve self-reported mental wellbeing by providing opportunities for the development of new skills & making a meaningful contribution to the community & increase awareness of other local services & appropriate access routes, reducing reliance on GPs. The service is currently being delivered by ACAVA. The ICB is under the impression that ACAVA is the only capable provider for the proposed 3 month period in the restricted total budget of £7,500. The ICB seeks to be transparent in it's intention to award the contract to ACAVA. Key requirements of this service include: -Provision of a facility local to NK, which adheres to the design & ethos of the internationally recognised 'Men's Shed' concept. See https://menssheds.org.uk/about/#who-we-are. This needs to be an existing location as there is no start up time or costs included. -The service is set within a premises designed like a shed or workshop, to help participants (primarily men aged 55+ living in NK) gain & share practical skills in an active environment. The set-up also facilitates social interaction with the aim that people gain a renewed sense of purpose & belonging, while reducing isolation & feelings of loneliness. -It is intended to support the Grenfell-affected communities of NK deal with the mental health challenges associated with the fire & its aftermath, while enabling independence & building confidence. From 1st July 2023, NHS NWL is planning to implement a 'strategic partner'(SP) model for the provision of physical & emotional self care & wellbeing services in the Westminster & Kensington & Chelsea. The SP would be responsible for managing the distribution of funding to local voluntary & community groups in the Bi-Borough, overseeing service delivery & sub-contractor relations with local VCS providing services. The provider is to demonstrate: -existing, well developed, relationships with local community & voluntary organisations, GP practices & Primary Care Networks, other NHS providers offering services in the area; -relevant local authorities & other providers & systems working to address those affected by the Grenfell tower fire; -a good understanding of the needs of local communities, & evidence the collaborative engagement with local people. The ICB is committed to assess the needs of the service users & consider how it needs to secure the needs of the people who use the services, & improve the quality & efficiency in the provision of the services including through the services being provided in an integrated way. Capable providers may come forward by 17:00 on 14 February 2023.
