A contractor is sought to undertake repair and improvement works to the porch entrance and internal areas in the Grade I Listed St Mary's Heritage Center, Gateshead. Tyne & Wear Building Preservation Trust is a small charity that has recently taken on a 99 Lease for the premises and received funding from the Community Renewal Fund to undertake these works. The works include the following: • The formation of the new access ramp and steps to the South Porch doorway. • The installation of a new door with internal access ramp to the South Porch. • The repair of the wall plates to the northern wall to the Nave. • The inspection and repointing of upper stone work to the South Transept. • The inspection of roofing timbers and securing of roof timbers to the South Transept. • The formation of a ceiling over the glazed office to the South Transept. • The change of one of the glass panels to the glazed office to provide a viewing panel. • The adaptation of a cleaning store to create a shower room. A Schedule of Works has been prepared and will be released to up to 6 parties who meet the quality criteria. Interested parties are asked to send three case studies of relevant projects to bev@twbpt.org.uk describing how they are relevant to the works required, explaining how they have managed the contract and range of technical skills employed and naming sub-contractors used. We would also ask that the interested party also explains how the size and type of contract fits within their operations and confirm they have the ability to undertake the work between September 2024 and November 2024.
