The British Embassy in Washington is seeking a suitably qualified provider to deliver comprehensive brokerage services in support of its health and welfare benefits programmes for country‑based staff across the United States Network. The Network comprises the Embassy in Washington DC, the UK Mission to the United Nations in New York, eight Consulates and four Trade Offices across 13 states, employing over 550 country‑based staff. The appointed supplier will be responsible for the administration and ongoing support of the Network’s health and life benefit plans, including medical insurance (currently self‑funded), dental and vision insurance, and life and disability programmes. In addition, the supplier will provide strategic advisory services to support the design, development and continuous improvement of the benefits offering. This includes market benchmarking, cost analysis, and recommending solutions to ensure the provision remains competitive, compliant, and value for money. The supplier will be expected to lead engagement with the insurance market, including identifying suitable providers, managing competitive placement processes, and negotiating renewal terms. The role will also include ensuring compliance with applicable federal and state regulations, providing guidance on regulatory requirements, and supporting governance and reporting obligations. Ongoing services will include policy administration, renewal management, claims support, handling member enquiries, and providing timely, professional advice throughout the policy lifecycle. A strong understanding of the US insurance market, coupled with proactive account management and the ability to deliver a high‑quality, reliable and data‑driven service tailored to the Embassy’s operational needs, will be essential. The contract is expected to have an initial term of five (5) years, with the option to extend for a further two (2) years.
